Genomics to Improve Poultry

The USAID Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Genomics to Improve Poultry seeks to improve the production of chicken and eggs by households and small farmers, and thereby improve food security, nutrition and livelihoods in Africa -- key goals of the Feed the Future Program.

Poultry Health Inspection (PHI) Program

The Poultry Health Inspection (PHI) Program is designed to keep birds healthy at poultry shows at California's Fairs and Expositions (F&E).  The activities of the PHIs prevent disease spread, educate fanciers about health maintenance, and promote the poultry fancy by insuring that F&E visitors see healthy birds in good condition.

Quality Index Insurance Certification

Poor farmers in emerging economies often face a high risk of losing crops to drought or other weather-related catastrophes. Agricultural index insurance is a promising tool to transfer risks for smallholder farmers, allowing them to invest more in productive inputs and recover better in the face of shocks. 

Rehabilitation of Clear Lake

Under the program established for the Blue Ribbon Committee for the Rehabilitation of Clear Lake (AB 707), researchers from UC Davis Center for Regional Change (CRC) and UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) propose to conduct applied research to guide the  Committee in improving the environmental quality and economic outcomes for the communities surrounding Clear Lake in Lake County, California.
