Taxonomy

"My image library is huge now. How can I organize it?"

If your site is any larger than a few pages and/or you've been very active adding or using existing media, it's quite likely you've found your Media Library content to be growing at a quick pace. It's never a bad idea to consider how your images and files are organized, and you can do that through Taxonomy—before, during, and after you've added them to your site.

Create a clickable taxonomy-based icon grid

We've had a few enterprising users ask how the Horticulture site put together their Block Chain icon grid presented on their site's homepage. Take ten minutes to watch Carson Black, senior developer, give a video overview of how this was created for the department by the Web Development team.

Add a branding color to your custom category filter

It may have occurred to you that it would be nice to display a colorful, custom category filter that links to information pages, but on creating it you no doubt discovered that custom vocabularies don't offer anywhere to set a branding color like the Article or Event Category lists do. This write-up will show you how to incorporate it into your own custom taxonomies to get that same effect and presentation.

Custom Term Pages

Taxonomy (Vocabularies and Tags)

Your SiteFarm site includes a means of displaying content that is associated with a specific tag or term. Some of these lists already exists by default as part of your initial site setup, but you are welcome to create your own custom Vocabularies (lists of terms that are related) and Tags (content that can be created ahead of time or on-the-fly within a content type).

Understanding Taxonomy and Vocabulary

Taxonomy, defined, is the science of classification. In the case of Drupal, Taxonomy is the system of classifying your content. SiteFarm will give you the means to create and manage collections of terms, called vocabularies, to help you group content together and cross-reference it and link related content together.
