In-line Block Configuration

As mentioned in the comparison of Layout Builder in-line blocks versus global blocks, the in-line blocks also differ in that you deal with the block's configuration directly on the page through its own unique submenu.

In the screenshot shown to the right, you can see that, once the pen icon has been clicked, a submenu specific to in-line block displays showing the available options.

Layout Section Configuration

Each Section of your layout, represented by a blue bounding box with its own administrative label, contains a configuration option available from the pen icon in its upper left corner.

Available Settings

The configuration settings under Style this Section include three tabs: Layout, Appearance, and Section Styles.

Understanding Layout Builder

What is Layout Builder?

Layout Builder is a Drupal Core add-on feature designed to help users create more complex, visually appealing page layouts. This feature is entirely optional, but does require users to review the documentation to fully appreciate and learn its particular requirements and quirks.

Like a far more robust version of the Layout Column Widget which works within the Main Content block, the Layout Builder:

Layout Builder Orientation

Updated - The orientation screenshot has been updated to reflect the change to the content preview section (#12) which has been changed from a checkbox with text to an icon button of an eye. Text/formatting has also been added for the Publication status for easier reading.

Understanding blocks

What is a block?

A block is a reusable, self-contained piece of content that you can create, configure, and add to pages site-wide or in limited, specific locations.

Basic page content type

What should you use the Basic page content type for?

The Basic page content type is intended for content that doesn't change often, such as About pages or pages about administrative policies. It is also the primary page type for using Layout Builder to create more complex page layouts for homepages, major portal pages, or special campaigns.
